The Welsummer chicks arrived on May 22nd 2010. They were nine weeks old, and we eagerly counted the weeks until they might start laying … hens are described as ‘point of lay’ from about 18 weeks old. But Honey was 40 weeks before she laid her first egg (just in time for Christmas!), while Treacle and Sugar didn’t really get going until mid to late January! They are very individual personalities …
